It is with deep sadness that the family of Michael Esquega Sr. announce his passing on November 13, 2025, at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, at the age of 73, surrounded by his loved ones.

Michael is survived by his children; Josephine, Joseph, Michael, Samuel, and Franklin, his siblings; Theresa, Evelyn, Francis, Agnes, Daniel, Charlene, Marlene, Nelindina, and Denise. He leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, all of whom brought great joy to his life.

He was predeceased by his mother, Eva Jean (Dick); and his father, Samuel James Esquega; his grandparents, Lucy and Earl Gonie; his sisters, Ina Carr, Angelique, and Bernadine; his brothers, Mathew and Albert; and many other cherished family members.

Michael will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and community.

A traditional Wake will be held at the Rocky Bay First Nation Community Centre beginning in the afternoon on Tuesday, November 18, 2025. Funeral Services will take place on Friday, November 21, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at the Rocky Bay First Nation Community Centre, followed by interment in the Biinjitiwaabik Zaaging Anishinaabek Cemetery.

Arrangements have been entrusted to EVEREST FUNERAL CHAPEL, 299 Waverley Street at Algoma.
