January 7, 1941 – March 23, 2026
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our Mother, Baba, and great-grandmother, Judie Felbel (Kowalchuk) on Monday, March 23, 2026, at the age of 85. She was born on January 7, 1941, the only child to Eugene and Helen Kowalchuk in Fort William, Ontario.
Judie met Walter Felbel and they were married in 1965. She loved to fish and camp at Whitefish Lake. Many trips were made to Manitoba to fish, play cards, and have a good time with Walter’s family. She also enjoyed many casino trips and her yearly visit to Georgetown, and spending time with her cousin Danny (Carol) Olenik.
Her family was always very important to her. You could count on Judie to bring her homemade Perogies to family gatherings.
Judie started her career with the City of Thunder Bay tax department. She ended her career at Versa Care as Office Manager of 38 years. She loved her job and all the staff, residents, and their families.
Judie was always very social, kind, and overall just a happy go-lucky gal.
She will be deeply missed by her son Alan (Nicole), daughters Michele (Charlie) and Jennifer (Sean). She also leaves behind her grandchildren Jasmin (Marcus), Samantha (Joe), Alexis, Jayson, and Tyler, and 6 great-grandchildren. Also survived are her cousins Danny and Carol Olenik, and Michael and Lynn Olenik.
She was predeceased by her husband Walter, and her parents Eugene and Helen.
She will forever be in the hearts of everyone who ever knew her.
As per her wishes there will be no funeral service.
We would like to thank Dr. Chan, the Cancer Centre, and all the staff of 1A, especially Carly, for their extraordinary care.
If you knew Judie, have a beer and cheers her. She would like that.
Condolences may be made through www.nwfainc.com
