Janis Hazelwood Whiteman

A.K.A. “Grandma Woof”

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of a very special lady, Janis Whiteman.  She embodied unwavering kindness, determination and resilience.  She is predeceased by her beloved daughter, Shelley.  She leaves behind many from the realm of Thunder Bay’s community: Shelley’s best friend; extended family; special neighbours; her First-Wesley Church family; the Lakehead Kennel Club members; and many tbaytel employees.  Thank you all for the love and care you bestowed upon Janis.  Say farewell on Saturday, January 24 at First-Wesley Church, 130 N. Brodie Street at 11:00 a.m. Reverend Lionel Ketola is officiating.  Interment of Janis and Shelley’s ashes will be at the Lake of the Woods Cemetery, Kenora, ON, at a later date.  Memorial tributes may be made in the form of donations to one of Janis’s favourite charities: Thunder Bay Food Bank; Thunder Bay Humane Society; Northern Cancer Fund; and First-Wesley United Church.  Online condolences may be made through www.nwfainc.com.
