No COVID Cases At Area Long-Term Care Homes

Long-term care homes in Ontario have been especially hard hit by the COVID-19 virus.

However, in the Thunder Bay District Health Unit region, Medical Officer of Health Dr. Janet DeMille confirms it is not a problem.

“We have no known cases in long-term-care homes or retirement homes in Thunder Bay,” according to DeMille.

The medical officer also stresses a current outbreak in a local long-term facility is not related to COVID-19.

Meantime DeMille reports there are no indications just yet of anyone getting COVID-19 from an employee at the Real Canadian Superstore. She tells us they have followed up with those customers who interacted with the person on March 30th.

“We have not identified any possible cases out of that. We have advised people what to do so they’re basically self-monitoring,” adds the medical officer.

In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
