NDP Critical Of Energy Program

The provincial NDP is not in celebration mode with the announcement the Northern Ontario Electricity Rate program is being extended past 2016.

House Leader Gilles Bisson says with electricity rates set to sky-rocket in Ontario, holding the subsidy steady at 120-million dollars a year won’t help a whole lot.

Bisson says by freezing the subsidy, it really amounts to a cut, with electricity rates set to rise by 32-percent over the next five years. (File photo)
