Museum Welcomes Extreme Sports Exhibit

You can learn all about extreme sports and athletes at the Thunder Bay Museum’s new exhibit.

Science Communicator Daniela Levert explains Beyond Human Limits lets you try out some challenges yourself, and learn about the science behind them.

“What it’s like to be an extreme athlete–the ups, the downs, all the information behind it and how complex it is. There’s the adrenaline and dopamine that they get to learn about, the different parts of the exhibit that really go into the psychology and the physiology,” she says.

The exhibit is at the Thunder Bay Museum until July 22nd.

It opened Friday, and was already a big hit with Claude E. Garton students.

Levert, who travels with the exhibit, says they see similar reactions from kids everywehre Beyond Human Limits is set up.

“The students love the exhibit, it’s very interactive. You’ve got different activities like the virtual reality headset, we have a cliffhanger challenge, we’ve got different interactive screens that they get to play on.”

The exhibit by Science North has already visited Kenora, and is expected to reach 25,000 visitors as it tours around the North.
