Thunder Bay MP Marcus Powlowski continues to advocate for controversial challenge trials for a COVID-19 vaccine.
He has presented a petition in the House of Commons calling on the Government of Canada to publicly announce a plan for human challenge trials.
It would see about 40 people deliberately exposed to the virus with some receiving an unproven vaccine.
Powlowski says the testing would be limited to healthy participants between 18-25 year-old without underlying conditions since he says in this population COVID-19 is about as dangerous as the common flu.
His Liberal colleague Health Minister Patty Hajdu has already rejected the idea of challenge trials.
