More COVID-19 Cases In Ontario

There have been a huge spike in the number of cases of COVID-19 in Ontario in the last couple of days..

There were 31 new cases reported by the Ministry of Health this morning. Yesterday there were 40 case with most being within the Greater Toronto Area.

There is a second case in Sudbury involved a woman in her 50s who came into close contact with someone previously diagnosed.

It the total number of cases to 177 with five who’ve since fully recovered.

Almost 8,500 people have been tested.

While there is one confirmed case of the coronavirus in Fort Frances, the Thunder Bay District Health Unit says there is no confirmed case in Thunder Bay.

The Health Unit is urging you to self-isolate for 14 days if you have been out of the country. Authorities are also urging you to get your news on COVID-19 from credible news sources and that the Health Unit will be confirming any cases which show up in the district.

The Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre has implemented restrictions as well. Only one person is allowed to visit any patient at anytime and that person must be designated by the patient. There is also an assessment centre set up just outside the hospital’s Emergency Department.

Public and Catholic schools in Thunder Bay will be closed until at least April 5th. Confederation College and Lakehead University have suspended classes this week in order to formulate an online learning plan for students.

How do you know if you are sick?

How do you stop it from spreading?

In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
