District COVID-19 Cases Continue To Spike

36 new cases of COVID-19 in the Thunder Bay District.

Officials indicate for the thirteenth straight day we’ve hit double-digit daily COVID-19 cases.

The breakdown:

  • Two more patients admitted to the COVID-19 ward of the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre
  • 25 cases obtained from someone else who had the virus
  • Six cases have no known exposure cause
  • Four case causes are pending
  • One case is tied to the Thunder Bay District Jail outbreak

The Thunder Bay District Health Unit also says that eight cases have been resolved.

The new cases means the active count is up to 257.

The last time the Thunder Bay District Health Unit saw a single digit day of COVID-19 cases was February 9th when six cases were reported.

While COVID-19 numbers are spiking locally, cases across Ontario continue to hover around 1,000 per day as the province reports 1,058 new cases Monday and 11 deaths.

  • Originally from southern Ontario, Jason found his way here and fell in love with the community and music scene of Thunder Bay over twenty years ago. In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
