Minister Responds To Winter Ice Road Conditions

The Ministry of Transportation is taking a close look at the ice road system in northern Ontario.

Last week, the Nishinawbe Aski Nation indicated climate change was to blame for the fact only one ice road is open this winter.

Transportation Minister Caroline Mulroney says they are working the address the situation.

“The responsibility is jointly shared between our ministries (Indigenous Affairs) and we are going to work closely to continue to support the needs of those communities,” says Mulroney.

NAN grand chief Alvin Fiddler says some ice roads need another 12 inches to carry full loads of fuel on them.
