School Threats ‘Beyond Troubling’: Mayor

Beyond troubling are the words Thunder Bay’s mayor uses to describe the Hammarskjold school situation.

Speaking at city hall this morning, Bill Mauro spoke of the teachers, students and parents, following the 11th threat made this morning just before 9am.

“It has to be incredibly difficult for all of them each morning you wake up, and you don’t know if you’re, you’re feeling some anxiety, obviously associated with the situation. Major decisions for the board to have to make on an on-going basis.”

He adds he has been talking to police chief Sylvie Hauth.

“Some things I can’t talk about or can’t say, but I have been in conversation with the police chief. She’s advised me to some degree, you know, what it is they’re trying to do, but unfortunately it’s just not something I can speak about publicly.”

The board tells us a hold and secure on St. Puix X was removed earlier.

In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
