Police Open Up About Threat Investigation

Thunder Bay Police say they are getting anywhere up to five tips a day about the ongoing threats at Hammarskjold High School.

Detective Inspector Ryan Hughes tells us they five full-time investigators on the case.

“The officers are working extremely hard with all the information they are getting, so there have been interviews done. They are going through tips from our line. I can’t give a time or if someone has been identified but I can say they are working and we are moving forward.”

The OPP is also lending their help to the local police force in their investigation.

Police are publicly confirming a number of the threats made to the school are coming in through Crimestoppers.

However, Detective Inspector Hughes won’t confirm whether the tips are via the phone or email.

Police say a number of the tips dealt with specific areas of the school and they aren’t sure if the person making the threats is someone who is in the school or if they are a person who was once familiar with it.

Hughes notes the individual(s) could also be making the threat from anywhere in the world.
