COVID-19 was not forgotten in the Mayor’s State of the City Address.
After withdrawing it from the City Council agenda on December 21st, Bill Mauro released a video of his address on Monday.
Mauro says we are hoping for better days as the vaccination process continues.
“But in the meantime, we must remain vigilant. The pandemic has reinforced with us just how dependant we are on each other, and I think that may be the most important lesson we all learn from this crisis,” he said.
Mauro also gave his condolences to the families of those who have died from complications of COVID-19.
However, he also highlighted some positives for the city.
Mauro thanked city residents and essential workers for their part in trying to slow the spread of the coronavirus, and local businesses for their work.
He singled out the Special Olympics Winter Games in February, and the success of the Christmas Cheer campaign more than doubling its fundraising goal in December.
“To me, this exemplifies the generosity and compassion that exist in our city. Thank you to the dedicated volunteers involved, as well as all of the donors,” Mauro said.
