Bill Mauro says it’ll be disappointing, should the federal government choose not to come forward with its fair share of event centre funding.
The Thunder Bay MPP is responding to news that the city is chasing $23 million in gas-tax allocation money to cover the fed’s contribution. Meanwhile the city is asking the province to foot a bill of up to $36 million.
Mauro says even more discouraging though is that if the fed’s permit using gas-tax money on the event centre, it would be recycled money already earmarked to the community.
Mauro notes that even if the feds cop-out, he remains in full support of the city’s efforts to get the centre built, as he says it’s his job to fight for Thunder Bay. (File photo)
