Mauro Asks Ford To Help Bombardier

Bill Mauro is sending a letter to the Premier in hopes of securing more work for Bombardier.

The mayor says the city is pushing for more contracts for the local plant but says Doug Ford could help by requiring more Canadian content in mass transit projects.

He points out the Bombardier plant is an important local employer, and if the province introduces Canadian content laws, it could also go a long way towards supporting Ontario manufacturers.

He points out they’ve heard talk about the need for subway expansions in Toronto.

Mauro adds they want Bombardier to continue to be involved with the province in transportation for the City of Toronto and surrounding area.

The letter is included in tonight’s City Council package.
