Are you concerned with the amount of time your child is spending in front of the television screen or computer screen?
A Pediatric Occupational Health Therapist from B.C. is meeting with parents to talk about the effects of technology and the importance of a healthy balance.
Chris Rowan recently visited Kenora and says the key to finding a healthy balance relies on lot’s of movement, touch, human connection and nature.
She says when you incorporate those four areas, your child will grow a very healthy and diversely connected brain.
Rowan says kids today are over-using technology by about four to five times the amount of what is being recommended by experts.
What is an acceptable number of time in front of a screen? According to Rowan “nothing for the 0 to 2’s. Only an hour a day for our 3 to 5’s. No more than two hours a day for 6 to 12-year-old’s and no more than three hours a day for our teenagers.
