Man Charged With Convenience Store Robbery

Thanks to assistance from Thunder Bay residents, police have charged a 32-year old local man with a recent robbery.

Police tell us they were called to Zaba’s Convenience Store on Cumberland Street just after 2 o’clock, Wednesday, April 15th. They say a man went into the store with what appeared to be a knife, demanded some money, and then fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

After sharing video footage with the public, police were able to identify the man, and arrested him on Thursday on Algoma Street.

Police add he remains in custody with a future court date.

  • Originally from southern Ontario, Jason found his way here and fell in love with the community and music scene of Thunder Bay over twenty years ago. In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
