Elderly Woman Confronts Suspect In Her Home

A suspect is wanted by Thunder Bay police after a senior citizen’s home was broken into in the Current River area.

Police say they were called around 7 o’clock Thursday night to the Hudson Road area, about an elderly woman who came out of her bathroom to find another woman in her home. After claiming to be with an organization helping people obtain government rent assistance, the suspicious woman asked for banking information which was refused.

Police add the victim found some property missing after the suspect left. They also say the suspect may have visited other homes in the area, but can’t say whether seniors are being targeted.

Police say they’re looking for an Indigenous woman about 5’5” tall with a slender build, about 20-to-25 years old, with black shoulder-length hair. She wore a black sweater with white writing down the left sleeve at the time of this incident.
