Man Charged With 5 Counts Of Murder

An arrest has been made in relation to a fire in a First Nation community that killed five people.

Provincial police say it was in May of 2019 when a fire destroyed a home at K-I First Nation, killing a 47-year-old woman and four children, ages 6 to 12.

On Tuesday, a 42-year-old K-I First Nation man was arrested and charged with 5 counts of first degree murder.

He remains in custody in Kenora.

  • Originally from southern Ontario, Jason found his way here and fell in love with the community and music scene of Thunder Bay over twenty years ago. In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
