City police are crediting a bystander with stopping an alleged assault on the south side.
They’ve charged one man with assaulting two people outside a home on Northern Avenue Monday night. Investigators say the first victim heard loud noises outside and was assaulted when he confronted the man, and a woman was also attacked when she went outside to intervene.
A driver passing by saw the incident and stepped in before police arrived.
One man was taken to the hospital for treatment of his injuries.
