Man Accused Of Assaulting Bus Driver

A number of charges have been laid against a 31-year old Thunder Bay man after a city bus driver was assaulted.

Police tell us they were called to a bus stop near the Intercity Shopping Centre Boxing Day evening just after 7 o’clock.

They say a man refused to pay after boarding, and when asked by the driver to leave so other passengers could get on, he allegedly hit the driver several times in the head and face.

Police add they found the suspect in the Simpson Street and Southern Avenue area, where he attacked them.

Police say the accused then became combative at the police station.

He has a bail hearing today.

There’s no word from police as to the condition of the bus driver.
