Magnus Theatre is ramping up for its upcoming season.
Its Artistic Director tells us he’s working hard to to find new shows for Thunder Bay audiences to keep them wanting more.
Thom Currie says he’s excited about the 2018-19 lineup, which features classics such as the cult favourite The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
If you haven’t seen the show before, Currie says not to expect something similar to last season’s production of the musical We Will Rock You, emphasizing that what they’re bringing in is very different.
“I’m a little nervous that people are going to be throwing toast around the auditorium,” Currie admits, “But I want people to come in and go, ‘I’ve never experienced this at Magnus’,”
The season starts in July, with a show written by Currie called Back in ’59.
It also features Bang Bang, which is about a playwright who bases a play on the shooting of an unarmed black man.
Currie notes that people he’s spoken to seem excited for Magnus to try its hand at the play, pointing out that it’s been extremely popular in Toronto.
You’ll also be able to see a comedy called Buying the Farm, written by Shelley Hoffman and Stephen Sparks, a married couple who met at Magnus Theatre.
Currie adds you can get tickets at the theatre or by going to their website. (File Photo)
