Indian Horse Screened In Author’s Home Community

The Wabaseemoong First Nation northwest of Kenora recently received the Hollywood treatment.

The producers of the movie Indian Horse brought the film to their community.

Josee Lusignan is president of the group I Love First Peoples, and says they were excited to bring the film to the home community of Richard Wagamese, who wrote the book the movie is based on.

She calls it an “extreme honour” to be able to visit the community, adding that the screening was “tremendously special”.

She says with the help of the producers of the film, they have been showing it in a number of First Nation communities across the country, including in Nunavut.

The screening featured a celebrity guest: Edna Manitowabi, who plays the character Naomi in the film. (File Photo)
