Local Manager Excited For Baseball Season

The Manager of the Thunder Bay Lakers U-13 squad is hopeful that there will be a baseball season in 2021.

Kevin McCallum, in an interview late last week, stresses safety is the number one priority when it comes to getting back on the field.

“As far as looking at a travel schedule for the summer, I don’t foresee anything right away,” said McCallum. “Perhaps towards the end of the season we’re allowed to play the U-12 squad or the older team.”

Under the three step plan to re-open Ontario, you’re only allowed to gather with five people outdoors and no team sports are allowed.

“We carry anywhere from 10-12 players,” stated McCallum. “If it’s a matter of splitting the groups up on different fields to stay under the outdoor gathering numbers, we’re going to do what we can for the kids.”

Outdoor sports and leagues are included in Phase 2 of the re-opening strategy.
