Day Of Fog, Wind, Sun, For Thunder Bay

Update 12noon, Tuesday:

It’s been a day of mixed weather, with fog, along with some sun, showers, and thunderstorms.

Environment Canada meteorologist Geoff Coulson notes some earlier wind cleared fog out of some parts of the inland, while it lingered at Thunder Bay’s waterfront due to wind patterns.

“There’s a lot of stuff going on here. Initially, with the northeast wind off the lake, the big factor was the poor visibility with the fog. As the afternoon goes on, we are going to see a shift in the wind, and also a change in the weather as well. Expecting unsettled conditions to develop west of Thunder Bay,” says Coulson.

He adds the fog hanging over parts of Thunder Bay will move out.

“Over the course of the next few hours, throughout the early afternoon, we expect the wind to shift to the southwest throughout the whole area. The fog will then persist more along the north shore of Lake Superior, and we should see visibility improve along the Thunder Bay waterfront,” he says.

However, the meteorologist adds due to all this unsettled weather, mainly coming from the west including Atikokan, afternoon thunderstorms are coming.

In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
