A local Indigenous teacher is being recognized with a national award.
Tesa Fiddler has been named this year’s Outstanding Indigenous Educator by the Canadian Teachers’ Federation.
Nishnawbe Aski Nation Deputy Grand Chief Derek Fox is congratulating her on her work, which includes her current position as an Indigenous Education Resource Teacher with the Thunder Bay District Catholic School Board.
Fox adds Fiddler has devoted herself to helping youth recognize their abilities.
