Thunder Bay’s Freshii is donating meals to frontline workers during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Owner Adam Lang says guests have been donating money to help fund the meals and to date, they’ve delivered over 150 meals in the past several weeks.
“They are going out to places like the hospital the ICU unit, several different departments there, nursing homes, ems, anyone who wants to help donate can do so on our Freshii app or by calling us at 333-0837,” Lang said.
The response from frontline workers has been great according to Lang.
“Those frontline staff are working really hard and they are putting themselves and their families at risk during this crazy time and it’s really nice to do something good for them. They are working around the clock and they don’t have the time or ability to go out and get a healthy meal for themselves,” Lang said.
Meanwhile, freshii has also pivoted their operations during the pandemic by offering grocery bundles.
“As soon as we were placed into the shutdown province-wide we remained open for take-out but our business really died off and this has been a really great way for us to keep it alive, we actually sold out on our bundles the first couple of weeks we offered it,” Lang said.
