More help is needed for local bus service between communities in the Northwest.
Regional lobby group NOMA is bringing the issue up with the government at a conference in Toronto.
President Wendy Landry says “We want to make sure that given that we have the expertise to identify what the actual needs are in the region we want to be able to speak to that. We are asking for a commitment from the government that any subsidies that are offered are given to the existing service providers in our area rather than pitting them against each other.”
Landry says they’ve secured a meeting with the Premier and several of her ministers.
NOMA is also using this trip to urge the province to scrap a proposed plan to merge Northwestern Ontario’s two health units. (File photo)
