It looks like the pandemic has cost some workers at the Thunder Bay Public Library their jobs.
Library spokesperson Cherri Braye tells us after a year of being off the job because of COVID-19 about 20 casual workers have been given notice they will not be returning to work.
“These individuals were given notice of termination as a result of lack of work due to the pandemic and we’re not certain what is going to happen in the future,” notes Braye.
The notice does not affect the jobs of about 70 full and permanent part-time employees at the library.
The termination notices were brought to light through a news release on Wednesday morning by CUPE 3120, the union representing the library workers.
