Leaf And Yard Waste Collection Begins This Week

The opportunity to get rid of leaf and yard waste.

It all starts Tuesday and will run until Friday, November 5 on your regular recycling day, noted by a leaf on your yard waste collection calendar.

Leaf and yard waste has to be placed in Kraft paper bags for collection, with branches and sticks bundled with rope also being accepted.

Bundles must be less that one metre (39 inches) long and 61 centimetres (24 inches) in diameter.

There is no item limit, but each item must weigh less than 40 pounds or 18 kilograms.

Leaf and yard waste materials are taken to the City of Thunder Bay Solid Waste & Recycling Facility and made into soil-enriching compost.

For more information, contact the Infrastructure & Operations Dispatch at 625-2195.
