500 new students from around the world are expected to attend Lakehead University’s orientation tomorrow.
LU spokesperson James Aldridge tells us they hail from all over.
“We currently have 60-plus countries represented on campus, and probably close to that represented at the new orientation on Wednesday as well.”
Aldridge says they’ll be teaching students about life in Canada.
“How to be successful as a student, how to survive a Canadian winter, for example–many of these students are coming, of course, from warm places, and they’ll be experiencing their first fall and winter with us.”
Meanwhile, the school is also hosting new law school students this week at the Thunder Bay Courthouse.
This year’s class has 65 students, six of whom are Indigenous.
The a ceremony welcoming them to the legal profession is taking place on Thursday.
