Keewaywin Fire Not Expected To Grow

Residents are starting to arrive back home in Keewaywin, now that a 96,000 hectare fire is being held at that size.

Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry officials say some services have been restored to the community.

Meanwhile, the fire southwest of Pikangikum First Nation is not under control at over 44,500 hectares, with around 30 crews working on that fire.

A fire 40 kilometres north of Red Lake is being held at 30,000 hectares, while another 13 kilometres southwest of Deer Lake is held at around 17,600 hectares.

There were no new fires as of yesterday.
