Impaired Driver Hits Police Cruiser

A fight inside a convenience store on Arthur Street led to Thunder Bay Police Service Offices being dispatched early Friday morning.

Officers arrived to find several men connected to the fight leaving the store, one of them entering a vehicle. Police tried to stop him, but the driver put his car in reverse and hit a police cruiser. He did so a second time, officers saying it appeared to be intentional.

The man then hopped onto the sidewalk with his car and began accelerating, with police pulling beside the man forcing him to stop resulting in a third collision. Police were then able to remove the driver from the vehicle, when they determined he seemed to be impaired.
