8,000 Year Old Human Skull Found In A River

Often times, rivers offer up garbage that have made their way into the water.

Old boots, cans, sometimes lost cellphones; so it’s considered quite rare when human bones are found, even rarer when they aren’t from this millennium.

A story from the New York Times, details how two kayakers found a human skull while enjoying a Minnesota river last September.

The local police sent the bone off to a medical examiner’s office where it made it’s way to the FBI eventually.

Through carbon dating, it’s believed that the skull is that of a young man who lived between 5500 – 6000 BC.

The full story can be read here on the remains that are likely close to 8,000 years old.
