Gord Downie’s passing hits close to home for me.

6 years ago today, GORD DOWNIE (The Tragically Hip) announced that he had terminal brain cancer. The band announced one final tour. It wrapped up in their hometown of Kingston later that summer.

Gord passed away back in the Fall of 2017. This story hits close to home for me, because Gord was diagnosed with one of the most aggressive forms of ‘brain cancer’ – called Glioblastoma Multiform.

My Father passed away from the very same form of cancer. I watched him battle this for nine long months. It was the toughest thing ever. My Father was a construction worker by trade, built hundreds of homes, and later worked at the grain elevators. One year after he retired, he was diagnosed with this horrible disease. He was never sick a day in his life, and then BAM….brain cancer. Gone in 9 months.

Hold your loved ones close and appreciate every single moment you have with them. Cheers.
