Thunder Bay’s Health Unit is collecting information on seniors’ dental health in hopes of better serving them.
Health Promotion Planner Adena Miller tells us they are on a fact-finding mission after the province announced funding for health units offering dental programs for low income seniors.
“So in light of the province’s announcement in April we wanted to create a survey that would tell us the needs of our unique population in Thunder Bay and district. We haven’t provided dental health services to this population before so this information will help us.”
The provincial government announced $90 million in dental care for seniors 65 and over.
To qualify for the Ontario Seniors Dental Care Program, candidates must earn less than $19,300 per year, or a combined income of $32,300 or less per couple, without dental benefits.
Paper copies of the survey can be found at:
- All TBDHU offices
- Oliver Paipoonge Public Library (Murillo and Rosslyn)
