An appointment to the new Liberal cabinet is lighting a fire under Patty Hajdu.
Thunder Bay’s first woman ever elected to Parliament was sworn in as the Minister of Status of Women at a Wednesday-morning ceremony in Ottawa.
Hajdu says she’s determined now more than ever to fulfill expectations that she’ll be a strong voice for the north at the federal table.
She says she found out she was being considered for an appointment a couple of weeks ago, adding she’ll receive a mandate letter from Prime Minister Justin Trudeau within the next few days, outlining the priorities of her post. (File photo)
