Habitat For Humanity Asks City For Land

Habitat For Humanity is asking the city for some help to continue its home builds.

Speaking to Council, CEO Randy Moore explains they only have two properties left for their annual house builds, and want to team up with the city to fix that.

In comparison, he points out other Ontario Habitat for Humanity groups have on average six pieces of land available to build homes.

He asked city lawmakers to help figure out how to work together to get land “in a reasonable and cost-effective way” for their home builds.

“We honestly believe that we give back a substantial amount to the city of Thunder Bay, and we provide a fantastic, fantastic service,” Moore emphasizes.

City Council voted to ask administration for ways they could co-operate with Habitat for Humanity to fulfill the request.

That report is expected to be back in front of City Council no later than September 30th.
