Government Workers Rally For Better Offer

Government workers represented by OPSEU are rallying today because they feel the government’s latest contract offer isn’t up to snuff.

They gathered at the Government building on Red River Road.

Local OPSEU Spokesperson Tom Berube says working conditions are already unmanageable.

“I have people in here who work without taking their breaks, and trying to make benchmarks with teams half the size they were,” he says, “like teams of 18 that are now nine, and these people are just trying and fighting to get the benchmarks, and there’s a high stress level in that too.”

Berube says they’re fighting for good paying jobs for local families.
