Funding Cuts To Ont. Hospitals Concerning: Health Coalition

The Ontario Health Coalition is raising issue with hospital funding in the province.

A report called Code Red says one in four hospitals across the province are suffering from large cuts and are at risk of closing.

Natalie Mehra is the Executive Director and says the situation is dire, noting Ontario funds its hospitals at the lowest rate per person of any province, contributing to the fact that it also has the fewest hospital beds in Canada.

Cuts have been felt at Thunder Bay’s Lakehead Psychiatric Hospital, St. Joseph’s, and the Regional Health Sciences Centre.
