The cause of a fire on the city’s south side is under investigation.
Fire Platoon Chief John Kaplanis tells us they were called to a blaze in a two-story house at the corner of Brodie Street and Northern Avenue by police this morning at 9 o’clock.
“We had a report from our dispatch that police were on scene and they were apprehending two individuals at the scene and in the process of that they encountered fire conditions in the building and they turned in the alarm,” explains Kaplanis.
When they first arrived firefighters confirmed there were no other people inside.
He adds the people who were in the house at the time are believed to have been squatters since the home was not registered to anyone.
The platoon chief adds damage to the house is extensive especially on the second floor.
No one was hurt.
