The Lakehead Social Planning Council wants the Federal Government to establish a basic income project similar to the one in Finland.
Spokesperson Bonnie Krysowaty believes the Trudeau administration could do it as away to reduce poverty.
“The federal government could actually instill a basic income guarantee for everyone who collects social assistance, disability benefits or workers compensation benefits, would be allowed a living wage.”
Krysowaty is reacting to news the feds plan to reduce poverty nationally by 2020.
