Evergreen Funding Delayed

A south-side community hub is hopeful they will get funding in the 2020 budget process after Council declined to let them speak Monday night.

The agenda included a motion to give $20,000 to Evergreen – A United Neighbourhood, but Councillors decided to move it to the 2020 budget discussions.

Evergreen Executive Director Linda Bruins says she’s not discouraged by the move. She notes this will give them more time to talk with city officials about their financial needs.

She notes their annual budget is just $104,000, and hopes they will still be operating past the end of March 2020.
