Elsie MacGill Public School Construction Delayed

The Lakehead Public School board is reacting to news that the provincial government has ordered a halt to all non-essential construction to help fight the spread of COVID-19.

That means the Elsie MacGill Public School construction has been temporarily suspended to comply with the provincial order.

School officials say since the government has not determined exactly how long the shutdown could last, the impact to the schedule is unknown.

The JK to Grade 8 dual-track school, was being constructed on the site of the former Sir Winston Churchill Collegiate and Vocational Institute.

The new school was going to house students from Agnew H. Johnston Public School and Edgewater Park Public School in September 2020.
