Drug Pushers Don’t Care About COVID-19

The amount of streets drugs in Thunder Bay is causing growing concern for police.

They say there have been too many overdoses, some resulting in death, linked to opioids, commonly called “down” or “dizzy” which is laced with fentanyl.

Police add they don’t have the statistics to back up their concern, just what their officers see, to justify alerting the public to this growing problem.

Police are warning of fake Percocet and Oxycodone pills, laced with fentanyl, among the list of concerning drugs.

Furthermore, police say drug pushers from southern Ontario don’t care about risk of COVID-19, or spreading it.

“We are facing an unprecedented threat to our community posed by the influx of gangs to our city who take advantage of the high demand for illicit drugs,” Det.-Insp. John Fennell said, adding that drug traffickers are taking advantage of the community’s most vulnerable and do not appear to be limiting travel despite COVID-19 risks.

In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
