Donation to Lakehead to go towards new bursaries

The Joyce Family Foundation is donating $2 million to Lakehead University to create a new set of bursaries for students with financial challenges.

The newly-established Joyce Family Foundation Bursary will select three students each year to be endowed with $22,000, paid out over four years in $5,500 installments.

The first batch of bursaries will be offered this September.

Lakehead President and Vice-Chancellor Dr. Gillian Siddall says the bursary will allow student recipients to “focus on their studies and achieve their goals rather than worry about financial stress.”

The University is currently working to raise $10 million over five years for bursaries, scholarships and awards, of which $2.6 million has already been raised.
