‘Diversity Lens’ To Guide College Decisions

Confederation College will now be making all its decisions based on an Indigenous perspective. It is called The Diversity, Equity, and Indigenous Lens.

Spokesperson S. Brenda Small, tells us the new approach will cover all policy, practice and teaching methods. She says if a decision is made without including an Indigenous perspective, then “it needs more work.”

As an Indigenous person working at the college for 25 years, Small is excited about the new protocol which she had a hand in developing. She believes it shows the college is “showing some accountability and that’s always a good thing.”
