Volunteers are working today on building two greenhouses for Dennis Franklin Cromarty High School.
The Regional Multicultural Youth Council, landscaping company Alter-Eden and the Northern Nishnawbe Education Council are behind the initiative.
Officials say they will use the veggies to affordably feed their students.
The NNEC wants to train First Nations students from remote northern communities where fresh produce is very expensive how to grow their own vegetables and it’s hoped students will take what they’ve learned back to their home communities.
