Crown’s Case Winding Down At Hobbs Trial

The prosecution at the Keith Hobbs extortion trial is getting set to finish its side of the case. There are indications the defence could start calling its witnesses by mid-week.

During crowns presentation, video and audio recordings were entered into evidence which attempted to link the three accused to an extortion attempt against the alleged victim. The alleged victim also took the stand for several days as defence attorneys tried to poke holes in his testimony.

Court officials are doing what they can this week to try to get all the testimony completed to avoid the trial being forced to go into next week. Proceedings are scheduled to start an hour earlier every morning at 9 o’clock.

Former mayor Hobbs, his wife Marisa, and co-accused Mary Voss are accused of trying to get a $400,000 house from the alleged victim. Four weeks have been set aside for the proceedings.
