COVID-19 Diagnosed In Two People At Mine

Two people associated with the Lac des Iles mine north of Thunder Bay have tested positive for COVID-19.

Eric Satterthwaite is the Vice President of Communications for Impala Canada, and tells us both individuals have been off-site for about a week, are self-isolating, and doing well.

Thunder Bay’s District Health Unit has gotten in touch with anyone who worked closely with the two infected people, had them all tested, and currently has them all in isolation for 14 days.

So far, there are no new positive cases for the mine near Highway 527, with more results expected.

  • Originally from southern Ontario, Jason found his way here and fell in love with the community and music scene of Thunder Bay over twenty years ago. In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
